Halcyon's Performance Horses

Halcyon’s Performance Horses are bred at our award winning stables at Merricks on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. 

We started our small, quality breeding programme with a beautiful mare, Halcyon’s Dark Secret (Daddy Cool x Rafinesse), who was bred in Germany by Paul Schockemohle. We imported her from Germany as a five year old in 2011, and she grew to be 17.2hh with a sensational jump. She was successfully campaigned by Victorian-based eventer, Rob Palm, up to three star level. Together, they were aiming for international stardom but Secret’s stellar career was cut short when she was diagnosed with a rare terminal cancer and died in 2017 aged just 11. This was, needless to say, a devastating blow to our fledgling breeding programme.  

We keep our programme at Halcyon’s Performance Horses deliberately small and,  for the moment we have chosen to breed using principally embryo transfer with our own home bred elite mares. We currently have our own surrogate mares on the property, who are available for hire, should they remain free after our programme stops for the year.
